JUSTIN GALINEY

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts

WELCOME

Throughout my adolescence, I was always referred to as "the engineer." Whether it be putting together Legos, modifying Nerf and Airsoft guns, or building ramps for my bike, I was always doing something with my hands. As I grew older, my name was the first to be called whenever something needed fixing around the house. It is for these reasons that I decided to pursue a career in mechanical engineering.

ABOUT ME

In May 2020, I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelors' in Mechanical Engineering. During my time at Northeastern, I had the opportunity of spending my co-ops at Bose Corporation and SharkNinja Operating LLC. Through my classwork, co-ops, and personal projects I have built a solid foundation in SolidWorks, testing and data acquisition, and fabrication. In my free time, I like to recreate different things around my apartment on SolidWorks, as well as study all aspects of music production. Outside of engineering and music production, I enjoy downhill mountain biking, basketball, and snowboarding.

Learn more about my co-op experiences below and my personal projects here.

BOSE CORPORATION

Bose is a research-oriented company that designs, develops, and sells audio equipment. During my time at Bose, I worked in the Metrology Lab focusing on quality assurance. Most of my days were spent designing test procedures, then programming and running different measurement devices. Repeatability over multiple parts was essential, so I was occasionally responsible for designing intricate fixtures to properly hold the parts in question. In between tasks, I would take random parts from around the lab, and design them in SolidWorks.

SHARKNINJA OPERATING, LLC.

SharkNinja is a global consumer product developer specializing in vacuums and innovative kitchen appliances. During my time at SharkNinja, I worked as an R&D Engineer on the Ninja Innovation team. My daily tasks ranged from optimizing brew procedures to tearing different products apart, to researching and testing new technologies. To do my job efficiently, proficiency in the model shop was essential. As a result, gained experience in fabricating prototype parts and test fixtures out of 80/20, sheet metal, and other high-temperature plastics and rubbers.

EMPATICA

Empatica is a healthcare company specializing in wearables and software used for the collection and analysis of physiological data. During my time at Empatica, I worked as a Hardware Engineer, designing, fabricating, and testing prototype parts daily. I spent a lot of time working with the electrical team located in Italy by integrating electronics into our mechanical prototypes. To do my job efficiently, all my work needed to be properly documented and laid out in such a way that anyone within the company could understand.
